A while ago, I was almost convinced that Medium was going to get rid of publications. Maybe that was Ev's plan. But Tony seems to like publications.

But I still think that it's best of publications are niche focused. Plus, I still think there is a time for self-publishing, when you've written something that doesn't quite fit anywhere or you just don't want anyone to mess with it.

But I also like your approach of viewing individual publications to find interesting things to read. That can be a good way to find new writers you like and new topics to dive into.
