About 10 years ago or something like that, I used to sometimes have internet-free weekends. I would turn off my internet connection for the whole weekend. It would force me to entertain myself in other ways. I would go outside, I would read books, I would watch normal TV, I would listen to CDs, and I would write in my journal. It felt like being transported back to the 90s again.

And the thing is, you could do that all the time, to some degree, if you wanted to. You could decide to only use the internet for work and other essential things, but refuse to use it for entertainment and socialising.

The biggest problem is smartphones with social media apps on them. I actually think social media phone apps are the worst form of technology ever invented. I refuse to have them on my phone at all. They are the technology equivalent of heroin. And I mean that to the fullest extent. If you have social media apps on your phone, you are an addict and it will make your life worse.
