Everyone is staring at their phones all the time. People aren’t engaged with real life anymore. It’s become a big problem. Such a big problem, in fact, that people die in car crashes because of this inability to stop staring at a rectangle in their hands.
Smartphones: a great idea that went wrong
When smartphones first got invented, they were a wonderful idea. The first iPhone in 2007 was meant as a way to combine the iPod and a phone with internet access.
What an amazing invention! To have one device to listen to music, phone and text your friends, and also browse the web. Awesome!
So, where did it go wrong?
Although social media such as Facebook and Twitter already existed at that point, there were no social media phone apps at first. The first Facebook app on iPhone came a year later in 2008, and three years later in 2010 on Android.
