As far as I'm aware, each of us was born from a parent, who in turn was born from a parent. If you go back far enough, our ancestors were a different species. Go back even further, and their ancestors were extremely primitive lifeforms.

So then the question is, what caused the initial conditions that enabled the first forms of life to emerge?

Whatever force it was that created that, may or may not have consciously intended for it to eventually evolve into us. And we might actually be an evolutionary dead end. Our species might fail, and then eventually, another one might evolve that's better than us.

But this is why I asked you to define "we". If you just mean us right now, the answer is simple: our parents. If you mean the human race as a whole, it was the ancestors we evolved from. If you mean all life forms, I don't know the answer to that.
