Atheism is merely the absence of a belief in a God. I don't have to say that I'm certain there is no God in order for me to not be certain that there is one.

It's unrealistic to try to remove the middle area like that, to say: if you don't firmly belief something exists, you have to firmly believe it doesn't. People's beliefs don't function in that black and white way.

Why are you so hungry for non-believers to have firm beliefs? Is it because you want to be able to pull apart their beliefs like they pull apart yours? Or is it just that you're uncomfortable with ambiguity?

But we don't choose our beliefs anyway, so it's all kind of a moot point really.
