Every Time a Gypsy Prays, a Kitten Gets Catapulted Into Space
Same gypsy, same kitten
Somewhere there is a gypsy. Let’s call her Fanny.
Somewhere else, there is a kitten. Let’s call him Bartholomeow.
Every time Fanny prays, cute little Bartholomeow gets catapulted into space. Fanny is unaware of this, however. She just prays every day like she always has since she was a little gypsy girl prancing in the meadows in the summer evening sun.
But Fanny is being watched by a strange man called Tiddles. He is Bartholomeow’s owner after he stole him from some other gypsies.
Every time Tiddles sees Fanny praying, he puts Batholomeow into his special little space suit, fastens him into a powerful catapult, and shoots him up beyond the sky. He has programmed a timer that deploys a parachute part way through the kitten’s fall back down to Earth.
This bizarre ritual is fueled by religious superstition. Tiddles believes that if he fails to catapult a kitten into space every time Fanny prays, the giant cat God will strike him down with his giant paw.
