How Long Before Sugar is Classed as a Dangerous Drug?
Diabetes kills 5 times more people than drug and alcohol problems combined
Sugar will mess up your health. But there’s money to be made in selling it to people.
I got motivated to write this after reading Jean Campbell’s story: Who Owns Your Food? Big Tobacco Execs, That’s Who.
This bit caught my attention:
“Long before they rolled up their sleeves to invent fruit roll-ups, food execs were in another business: they sold cigarettes to your children.”
This highlights the reality of the situation because smoking used to be normal.
Piccadilly cigarettes: recommended by doctors, ice skaters, and circus performers.
Of course, we know better now. Smoking ruins your lungs and shortens your life.
But we also know that refined sugar is bad for us. And it has all the signs of a harmful recreational drug:
- It gets you high.
- This is followed by a crash.
