I agree, although I would go one step further and say that it's a mistake claim Awareness as your identity. Awareness itself has no personal properties, or any other properties. It is merely the blank screen on which all experiences are displayed. Even the concept "I am not my thoughts" is itself a thought. So, the one that says "I am not my thoughts" is not the real you either. But neither is the Awareness. Self is an illusion.
