I am grateful for the various publication editors who help me get my articles published. But I'm glad I'm not an editor. It sounds like a lot of work for no particular benefit.

I think Medium is in a transition period. Eventually, tags and lists will probably replace publications. If there were no publications, we'd all still get just as many views, it's just that the algorithm would use tags to decide who to recommend our stories to.
