I understand where you're coming from regarding working alone. I much prefer working alone too, and hope that employers can become more understanding of our need to work alone.
The irony is, if autism wasn't regarded as a disability, we would have even less chance of society accomodating our needs. But even if society was to meet all our needs, that wouldn't stop it being a disablity, because there still needs to be the awareness of it, so that our needs can continue to be met.
But it's entirely understandable that the world is designed mainly for non-autstic people. I've seen estimates saying that about 1-2% of people are autistic. Well, that still leaves 98% of people non-autistic. It's totally understandable that the world would be designed for the majority. But hopefully there is a move towards accomodating disabled people.
