I was specifically talking about the Delta variant, not all variants of the virus. It is a fact that, out of those in England who have tested positive for the Delta variant, far more fully vaccinated have died within 28 days of testing positive than unvaccinated.
In any other drug trial that would set alarm bells ringing and probably end the trial.
Of course, the vast majority of these deaths were people over 50. It could indeed be that most of those were elderly people with existing health conditions who would have died anyway. But that's been true about the majority of deaths from this virus since the beginning anyway.
I have since read the full report, and there is no further information about what these deaths mean. The rest of the report is filled with many more stats and charts about all the variants, plus text explaning how the data was collected, that kind of thing. It's a bit worrying they don't even give any explanation why those fully vaccinated people have died after testing positive for Delta.
