I'm sure a lot of people hang around on Twitter waiting for things to become outraged about. Virtue signalling. But you're 100% right. If you want to be a successful writer, try your best to write well. There's absolutely nothing wrong with saying that. Just as there's nothing wrong with saying that if you want to be an airline pilot you should learn how to fly a plane properly, or if you want to be a heart surgeon you should learn how the body works.

If you want to win an Olympic race, you need to be able to run fast. That's not an insult to people in wheelchairs. It's just a fact.
