Is God Just the Adult Version of Santa?

Or perhaps Santa is the child-friendly version of God?

Parents tell their children there is this man called Santa or Father Christmas. Once a year, he brings everyone gifts. To get what you want, you write him a letter. But you will only get gifts if you’re well-behaved. If you’re naughty, you won’t get anything.

Christian children are also told there is this invisible man in the sky. He controls everything, and if you want stuff you have to pray to him. If you’ve lived a good life, you will go to a special place called Heaven. But if you’ve lived a naughty life, you’ll burn in hell.

All children soon realise Santa’s a lie. But many people go their whole lives believing the other myth.
