It’s 2022, So Why Are There Still So Many Annoying Websites?

We’re in the web’s 24th year, so why is this still a problem?

Many websites provide a terrible user experience. In fact, it’s got to the point where I just want most websites to piss off.

Shifting website contents

You visit a website and you see the thing you want to click on. But when you click on it, it moves and you accidentally click the wrong thing. It’s infuriating!

I know why it happens — the site hasn’t finished loading yet. It’s still waiting to display images, videos, or adverts. But it would be better if it waited until everything had loaded before displaying the site. Or just display blank placeholders where the adverts are going to be.

It’s 2022. We’ve got self-driving cars. Why have we still got websites that do this shit?!

Distracting adverts

Okay, I get it, most websites need adverts to generate money, otherwise, they wouldn’t exist. But if the adverts distract you from reading the article, the whole thing becomes a waste of time.

It’s fine to have adverts, and it’s okay if they are eye-catching. But keep them static. Otherwise, they are like a…
