I've followed them on and off for years. The quality of their output has varied a lot, in my opinion. Some of it I love and some of it I can barely stand to listen to.
In the liner notes to the remastered edition of Seasons End, Steve Hogarth writes about how quick and easy the album was to make. But that was because the other four had already written most of the music before he joined.
When making the next album, he had a shock when he realised how slow they are to write music. Their approaches clashed and caused a lot of stress at first. Hogarth likes to work on one song obsessively until it's finished, whereas the others like to aimless jam around and let things simmer for ages.
If you look at their YouTube channel, they recently recorded some interesting interviews where they talk about each other. Funny and heartwarming, really.
EDIT: This is the particular video where they talk about each other, but they did a bunch of others where they talk about themselves and all the rest of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuCZK10VvPo
