I've had 7 referrals, but one of them left in January, so I'm down to 6 now. But I've stopped adding my link to my new articles now. I remember Jared A Brock saying that a well-written article will earn you far more than a referral will anyway, so it's better to just focus on the writing.

But it's possible to get referrals without including your referral link anyway. If a new reader subscribes to get your articles via email, they will be promoted to join Medium, and if they do, they become a referral. I've no idea whether my referrals clicked on my link or just signed up the way I just mentioned.
