Look back at what I previous wrote. I said:

But if somebody says, "This is what I believe because that's what my religion says," I don't respect that. You can't even have a worthwhile conversation on the topic with someone like that.'

I'm talking about the people who use their religion as an excuse not to think for themselves.

I have literally heard people say things like that. I even remember seeing somebody on a TV debate say that. Well, it's pointless them being part of the debate if they're not even going to think outside of what their religion has prescribed for them.

Of course, if somebody chooses a religion because it matches up with the beliefs they already have, that's a different matter. I suppose this is why it's important for children to be exposed to a variety of different beliefs and ideas when they are growing up.
