Many years ago, I read a book called Posotive Solitude. This was before I suspected I was on the autistic spectrum, and even before I had much understanding of personality types. It made a wonderful case for enjoying being on your own. It made a clear distinction between solitude and loneliness.

I find that writing can be a good way to avoid being lonely. Not just writing published articles, but writing in my private journal. And also looking back at previous journal entries and reflecting on them. I was doing that last night, reading some journal entries from a year ago, and noticing how much had changed in just a year. Through that kind of process, I feel like I can kind of be my own best friend.

But I often like to listen to podcasts, too. Then it's not always about me and my own thoughts.
