π Maybe they don't want to admit it. Because they don't want people to realise that if they fill a story with loads of videos and not much text, it might earn as much money as a story with lots of text.
I suppose it depends on how sophisticated the algorithm is. To not count video views, it would need to be able to detect what the user is doing. I mean, I could be playing a video whilst also reading the text, and it wouldn't know. I suspect it just times how long the page is open, in which case video views would count. It would also make sense of why Hogan's stories with lots of videos in them earn him so much money.
