No, I don't quite remember when Channel 4 started. I think other events around that time must have stuck in my mind more.
I remember Channel 5 starting in 1997, though.
In 2006, I stayed in a Bed & Breakfast in Pembrokeshire, and the TV in my room wasn't tuned into Channel 5, so I tried to tune it into it. In doing so, I accidentally tuned it into Irish TV. I found RTE 1 & 2 (their equivalent of BBC) and TV3 (their version of ITV). On RTE 1 they had their own Irish version of Changing Rooms, and on TV3 they had a young woman playing Irish fiddle on breakfast TV. I could see Ireland in the distance.
