Notre-Dame de Paris Should Be Turned Into a Homeless Shelter
Because what’s more Christian than looking after disadvantaged people?
In April 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris was severely damaged by fire.
Donations for its restoration came in rapidly. Some into the many millions of Euros. By a week later, the total had reached over €1 billion.
But there’s a huge pile of hypocrisy there.
Paris has about 30,000 homeless people. So, the rich people are unwilling to dig into their deep pockets to give people a place to sleep at night. But as soon as an old building needs repairing, they’ve got some spare millions to give away.
Okay, fine, restore the old building. But make it taller. And instead of all that height mainly being full of air, fill it with apartments for homeless people.
I’m not a Christian. But if you are a Christian, at least have the courage of your convictions. At least stand behind your religious values 100%. Because what about all the parts of the Bible about being kind to others and treating them with respect?
Otherwise, it’s the worst form of hypocrisy. Standing in a big expensive building, paying lip service to your religion. Meanwhile, 30,000 of your fellow humans are out starving in the cold.
But then again, it might be a stupid idea. If all that space gets filled with apartments for homeless people, it will ruin the acoustics. Then the hypocrites won’t be able to sing their hymns to full effect. Because God can’t hear them without all that reverb.
