The angry trees explanation might be fine for yougn children. The only worry is that they might continue to believe that as they get older. I kind of wonder whether that's what's happened with religion. Is it just a bunch of stories to tell people who wouldn't understand the truth? Or a way to get people to behave? Or a way to make them feel lilke everything's going to be okay?
Yes, it's nonsense when people say that God saved them, even though loads of other people died. It's like, what happens if two rival sports teams pray to God that they will win?
