The Artist Who Goes Insane Whenever the Colour “Black” is Mentioned
And 7 other hilarious characters from the British comedy sketch show ‘The Fast Show’
The Fast Show was one of the best British comedy shows of the 90s. Known in the United States as Brilliant, it was created by Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse, who had both previously worked with Harry Enfield.
The aim was to create a comedy sketch show with a much faster pace, with shorter sketches. It was a bit hit-and-miss, but that didn’t matter because the next sketch would come along before you got sick of the current one. And some of them have gone down in history as some of the best comedy characters ever invented.
Johnny Nice Painter
Played by series producer Charlie Higson, Johnny is a happy, pleasant-mannered amateur artist who enjoys painting landscapes with his wife (played by the wonderful Arabella Weir). That is until the word “black” is mentioned.
