Ukraine War: Why We Need to Be Grateful for the Content Moderators

They see all the horrific videos and images so we don’t have to

What a shitstorm, hey?

Obviously, the Ukrainians are the people suffering the most. They are the ones being killed, losing loved ones, seeing their buildings destroyed. They are the ones living in constant fear.

But also spare a thought for online content moderators. Because whenever anything horrific happens, it gets uploaded online.

Without content moderators, sites like YouTube and Facebook would become unusable. They would quickly get filled with horrors too graphic for most of us to handle in such large quantities.

  • People being shot in the face, burned, crushed, limbs being blown off.
  • Twisted, mangled corpses with wide staring eyes.
  • Heads without bodies. Bodies without heads.
  • People still alive but with hands missing or blood pouring out of their eye sockets.

Sounds awful, doesn’t it? Think yourself lucky you only had to read a few sentences describing it. Imagine actually seeing it for hours every day.

See enough stuff like that and your mind is ruined. So spare a thought for those whose job it…
