Well, it's not just my opinion. It's the definition of what Autistic Spectrum Disorder is, in the UK at least. Here, I don't think you'll get a diagnosis unless your traits are regarded as causing you significant difficulties in life. People can have autistic traits to some degree without them being disabling enough to warrant a diagnosis. I don't have a learning disability or physical disability. But my autism diagnosis means that technically I am clasified as disabled because it has caused problems in my life. And that's the whole point. If it hadn't caused problems in my life, I'd have been happy not to have the diagnosis and just consider myself different.
