Some people say that Monty Python were the Beatles of comedy. Such people are wrong because they haven’t looked at the numbers like I have. Here, I prove that this assertion is like saying that the helicopter is the motorbike of the sky. Or, to quote Dwight Shrute, “the eyes are the groin of the head.”

Let’s look at their similarities and differences

Here, I look at their similarities and differences to decide whether these groups are the same or different. If there are any differences, they are obviously not the same. But how different are they? And how the same are they as well? I will try to answer both of these questions here.

Their similarities

  • Both groups were male.
  • They were all British — except animator Terry Gilliam, who was born in the US but is now a British Citizen.
  • Several of them have died.
  • Both groups contained members called John.

Their differences

  • Monty Python had 6 members, but the Beatles only had 4.
  • Nobody in the Beatles was called Eric, Graham, Terry, or Michael.
