British people are travelling to Ukraine to help defend it from the Russian invasion. This comes after British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said:

“I do support that. That’s something people can make their own decision about. The people of Ukraine are fighting for freedom and democracy, not just for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe.”

But the British Army says it does not want British soldiers going to Ukraine:

“To be clear, as members of the British Army, you are not authorised to travel to Ukraine to support the ongoing conflict against Russia in any form, whether you are on leave or not. Please remain professional and focused on your duty and your team.”

If Russians see soldiers there with British insignia, this could escalate the conflict.
