Yes, it's a tricky issue. As Sean Kernan said in his article about this, those who champion free speech are usually only in favour of it if its views that they agree with.

Did you ever hear about what happened with Brian Rose? He was being censored on YouTube for his interviews with people like David Icke. So he attempted to set up his own "Digital Freedom Platform" where free speech would prevail. He got loads of his followers to donate money to set it up, and he conned them. And whenever anyone complained, he removed their comments, and he put in copyright claims for any videos criticising him. So, he was weaponising the copyright complaints process to shut down opposing voices. It turns out he was a total con man. He tried to get elected as Mayor of London, too.

Seriously, it was a huge thing. Rebel Wisdom, who has an account on Medium, made videos analysing the whole thing.
