Yes, that's a good point. The whole belief thing is tricky, especially religious belief. People believe because they need to believe. But do they really believe? With all that humanity knows now, it's hard to see how anyone other than a total moron could genuinely believe everything that the Bible says.

This is problem I have with Jordan Peterson's view of religion. He seems to think that it's good to believe something just because it's helpful to believe it. But I'm more interested in finding out what's true, even if it's uncomfortable or difficult. Because knowledge is power. If you find out what's going on, and see clearly the gaps in your knowledge, then you can move forward constructively. But if you bellieve things just because they are helpful or comfortable to believe, that's a dangerous tightrope to walk because all kinds of disasterous things can happen when you believe nonsense.
