Yes, this seems to have been the problem with Covid deaths from the beginning, even before Delta came along. It's mostly been killing older people, and many of those have been in their 80s, over the average life expectancy anyway. Someone could die of anything, and if they had tested positive for the virus within the last 28 days they get included in the Covid death statistics.
